I moved to New Mexico from Seattle, Washington in 1993 to pursue painting and teaching watercolor full time. Española, New Mexico was my chosen location because I found the town to be very real – not decorated or glitzy. And it was within an hour of Taos, Santa Fe and Georgia O’Keeffe country. I learned from O’Keeffe through her paintings of the landscapes I walked. And she taught me so much more. Note: All of these paintings were done between 1993 and 2008.
“It is the unexplainable thing in nature that makes me feel the world is big far beyond my understanding – to understand maybe by trying to put it into form. To find the feeling of infinity on the horizon line or just over the next hill.”
– Georgia O’Keeffe, 1976
