Jan’s Words: My Intensive students were very insistent upon learning how to paint a palm since both were from Florida. I knew I never painted any palms the same way twice, but we selected a photo and I this painting was my demo. I talked through all the steps of under-washes, calligraphic line-work with a rigger, glazing, etc. We all succeeded in our individual ways that day. I wondered how many layers I had glazed through this painting. I love the depth and the flow.
