En Plein Air Watercolor Sketches

Though Jan Hart painted outdoors, en plein aire throughout her painting life, she really embraced the practice in Costa Rica.  Her few essential supplies are always ready in an easy to grab backpack. And she thinks nothing of using regular sketchbook paper for her quick plein aire sketches. One of her favorite places to paint is Villa Leonor on the Pacific coast. She enjoys sitting in the bar with a beer and is often waiting for students or a friend to return from the ocean, just steps away. She loves the practice because she says everything is in motion and you have to paint fast. “It is a great way to find out what you have stored in your artist’s intuition’. Several of her ‘one hour paintings with a beer’ are offered in this collection.
