Jan’s Words: The mountains are so close to the sea all along the Pacific edge in the southern zone.  The highway is often just a ribbon of asphalt that weaves its way between the beaches and the steep sided coastal range. On this day I waded out into the 87 degree F water and waves at Ballena beach.  When I turned around I saw the clouds moving in. They were semi transparent as their edges moved over and through the forest. I watched the mist finger its way through the trees. How would I paint it? Committing it to visual memory, I later experimented and found my way through– wet into wet and wet into damp paper.
