Jan’s Words: Shortly after I moved to Costa Rica I wanted to paint a still life about some of the array of available fruits. I used what I had. And what a still life! If the papayas and avocado weren’t threatening to roll, the orange was. The only things I could count on to stay put were the bananas. And then I saw the reflection of the woven cloth in the dish. I decided to just try to paint what I was seeing and to name it what I was feeling.  Be still!
