Jan’s Words: I saw these two rocks at the base of an incline – just as they appear, leaning firmly against each other. Then I saw the smaller rocks lodged just behind the two larger rocks. I thought the scene was a perfect depiction of the metaphor ‘between a rock and a hard place.’  And so I painted it during a workshop at a private residence in Santa Fe, New Mexico.
