Jan’s Words: How I love painting white objects – and this goose offered a great opportunity to paint the light, the shade, the shadows and the reflected light I saw. It was a demo for a New Mexico workshop. I used just three paints for the goose – Rose Madder Genuine, Cobalt Blue and Aureolin Yellow. And then I did use some Quinacridone Sienna in the background with some Ultramarine blue. The white shapes in the background happened accidentally. But when I saw them I decided that they looked like feathers – and I left them in.
