Jan’s Words: These brilliant gladiolas were painted from a bouquet I was given. Ah, the Gladiolus – named from a Latin word meaning ‘’sword’ because of the shapes of the leaves. But it is the brilliance of the petals that begged me to paint them. It didn’t hurt to add in the nearly complimentary violet for the background.
