Jan’s Words: What a time we had the day I painted this! I took my students up to Echo Amphitheater with the idea of painting the cliffs as if it was night. I selected only those colors in the lowest wavelengths color range – blue and blue green, which are the only colors we can almost see at night. While painting en plein aire, I worked using my selected colors while I was seeing all the bright and dazzling colors before me. I remember how difficult it was – painting in one color while seeing it in another. I actually felt disoriented. But I loved it!
