Jan’s Words: My students and I were enjoying an afternoon at Ghost Ranch, sitting under the cottonwood trees and looking out across the valley to the Pedernal in the far distance. Georgia O’Keeffe had one time said that it was her mountain. She went on to say that God had told her that if she painted it enough she could have it. The story always made me smile. And then I saw the lovely clouds just grazing the top of the Pedernal. I decided to paint it right then.
