Jan’s Words: I saw this first thing in the morning and it gave me pause. There was the beautiful blossom of the Reina de la Noche poised at an angle with one of the red plant leaves angled just behind it and pointing in an opposing angle. It was certainly enough to grab my attention. I took a quick photo and thought about it all day. Was it a warning or simply an unintended and meaningless garden happenstance? Awhile later I chose to paint it on Yupo, which is plastic ‘paper’. The paint was flowing and moving on the slippery surface though the blossom and the leaf stayed mostly separate and still opposed. It still gives me pause.
