Jan’s Words: I remember so well the day I decided to paint the up close view of one of my favorite animals here in Costa Rica. I chose a square panel of Ampersand board and played with the shapes and texture, finding that the board was very different from cold pressed watercolor paper. But I was enjoying watching the paints move and push each other aside. In the end it took awhile for the paint to dry on the firm and resistant surface. After it was completely dry, I looked at the back of the panel. It cautioned that it should NOT be used for watercolor. Too late. I loved it!
