Jan’s Words: This painting got me started back painting again after Frank’s death. I took some dear friends who were visiting to my favorite place at Playa Ballena and walked with them along the slow stream that empties into the Pacific. Along the way I saw a dead palm frond that was partly immersed. My guests continued on to play in the warm Pacific. I was transfixed by the delicate and different reflections in the moving water. With a few photos on my iphone, I returned to wait for my friends. I had brought along an old backpack that contained some forgotten paints, a brush and a sketchbook. Using my iphone photo, I sat and painted with what I had. I truly love what came out of that. I was ready to paint again!
